Devanture de la galerie Madaba

The name of the art gallery refers to the Madaba mosaic map of the Holy Land which is a masterpiece of Byzantine art (6th century).

The Madaba art gallery in this way emphasizes its aim of spreading knowledge about religious art bequeathed by Christianity — and which it continues to inspire.

The art gallery highlights the perennity of themes and — often in the light of faith — a blurring of the border-line between the so-called noble arts — large-scale ceremonial art, stained-glass windows, statuary — and more modest expressions of art such as popular colour prints, embroidery and that of small ritual objects…

What art form, better than the one that attempts to evoke the reflection of divine inspiration, can reveal to man of today his capacity to surpass himself infinitely?
